Bournemouth is a thriving, vibrant and amazingly exciting city, despite the unfortunate fact that it is known as ‘God’s waiting Room’. The sad reason why it is called this is that many elderly folk choose to retire here. However, the city of Bournemouth has an incredible youth culture, with a a high proportion of university and language students. Of course such a place will be a excellent place to visit however, there is plenty  more to the place. In actual fact Bournemouth is extremely popular with all ages, the most probable reason why there are so many guest houses offering bed and breakfast in Bournemouth to choose from.

Bournemouth is situated on the coast in the South of England, a little over one hundred miles from of the city of London. The largest town on the south coast, Bournemouth, is well renowned for its 7 miles of glorious golden beaches and glistening rich blue sea. It is the town’s profound locale that made it become an immensely popular UK vacation destination since the beginning of the 19C. It is pretty hard to understand that Bournemouth was,  in the early 19C, little more than a barren and remote heathland being mainly common grazing excluding Sir George Ivison Tapps’. In the year eighteen hundred and nine a public house appeared on the heathland, the Tapps Arms, a couple of years after this, in 1812, the first residents moved in.

Lewis Tregonwell and his wife acquired a patch of land upon which the couple constructed a series of villas looking out across the sea with the intention of letting them to visitors in the summer months for holidays. The couple also constructed a summerhouse on the land. and also began to plant countless pine trees, making a fantastic sheltered walk to the beach, , which was later called the Invalid’s walk.

Ever since those days Bournemouth’s popularity, as a coastal resort, has continuously increased, and, the city has become known as a tourist haven for leisure, recreation, fun, culture and entertainment. Places which prove very popular to visit include; the award winning Central Gardens, Bournemouth Pier, the graveyard of St. Peters Church and the Russel-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum.

If you are currently thinking about spending a few weeks in the city of  Bournemouth it is crucial that you reserve your  room at your first opportunity as, unfortunately hotels in Bournemouth tend to be surprisingly busy and are frequently fully booked well in advance. If you are a large group you might find that apartments in Bournemouth are a less expensive alternative to bed & breakfast in Bournemouth.
