What is the difference ………….?

What would be the difference in using a Travel Agent or the internet?I would think a travel agent gets bet deals and you do not pay anymore to use one.I have recieved the same rates on cruises , hotels and cars calling a travel agent or doing it directly w/ the companies ie:Royal Caribbean,Princess , Enterprise , all hotels etc. This is an on going argument I am having with a friend of mine. Also isnt it better to be able to go to someone who knows the avenues to take to correct them?

My experience is that the best thing to do is find your best bet on the internet, *then* go to the travel agent.

Generally, I’ve been able to get cruises (even internet specials) for the same price through a travel agent. I’ve also been able to get some flights etc at the same rates. Usually, hotel accom is more expensive (for the same *quality* place) by using an agent, but they save you loads of time by finding you somewhere you want to be, not a cheap hotel way away from where you were hoping (as often ends up happening when you book on the internet, and have to go by the hotel’s description of how centrally located they are).

When using the internet, though, you need to be searching for the deals… if you just book *normal* flights, accom, etc, you’re better off using an agent – easier to make changes, more certainty, yadda yadda…
